Game data and local storage

Game actions, board generation, and timing run in your browser. Best times, clear counts, and seeded-board results are stored in localStorage, with the latest 100 seeded boards retained. The number of valid actions on the current board and which of the events below have already been sent for it are stored the same way, so that resuming a suspended board does not send those events again. These records are not linked to login information or sent to a server during normal gameplay.

Retention and deletion

SweepTap does not set an expiration date for local records. They may disappear when you clear site data, use private browsing, change devices, or when your operating system or browser removes stored data. You can delete them through your browser's site-data settings.

Shared URLs

A shared URL contains difficulty, seed, first cell, and board-generation rules version. It does not contain mine coordinates, mid-game actions, best times, or clear counts.

Contact information

We collect the inquiry type, message, optional reply email address, and page path. We do not store your name, address, phone number, attachments, game records, IP address, or User-Agent as contact data.

Purpose and retention of inquiries

We use submitted information to respond, review reports, and improve the service. Cloudflare Turnstile and Cloudflare Pages Functions help prevent abuse and receive and relay inquiries. Verified submissions are stored in a private Google environment through Google Apps Script and deleted 180 days after receipt, unless an active case requires a delay.

Service providers and disclosure

We do not disclose collected information unless you consent or the law requires it. Cloudflare and Google provide inquiry-handling services. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4 may be used to improve quality. The tag and the events below load and send only on the production custom domain. Nothing is sent from Preview / STG or localhost.

The following event names mark milestones in play: first_open (opened the first cell), game_progress (reached 20 valid actions), game_won (cleared), game_lost (hit a mine), retry_board (retried the same board), play_again (started a new board), difficulty_change (switched difficulty), share_result (shared a result), help_open (opened how to play), and article_play_click (moved from a guide to the game).

Each event carries only the display language and the difficulty (beginner, intermediate, or expert). Seeds, shared URL parameters, the board, mine or flag positions, click coordinates, elapsed time, best times, clear counts, personal data, and any value identifying a visitor are not sent. Events are not sent for every single action.
